Something to Savor - Naming the new venture.
Saving the best for last.
Sometimes, the thing you save for last is the thing that matters most.
I’ve been spending some time thinking about what to call the greeting card and art print side of my art business. There have been a lot of names tossed around, considered, abandoned, resurrected, and considered again. 😂
So, naturally, I asked social media.
The votes were… well, let’s just say Pariseau Studio did not exactly win by a landslide. There were two votes.
Two.
But sometimes, two is all you need.
Because I couldn’t resist it.
Pariseau Studio.
I loved the way it sounded. I loved the rhyme. I loved that it kept Pariseau - my name, and the name already connected to my artwork and website - at the center of things.
But mostly, I loved the initials.
P.S.
A postscript is something added at the end of a letter. A final thought, tucked beneath the signature. Sometimes it’s an afterthought. But most times, it’s anything but.
It’s the thing you saved for last because you knew it deserved its own little moment.
The part that makes you smile.
The unexpected thought.
The punchline.
The secret.
The little bit of deliciousness you couldn’t quite fit anywhere else.
And maybe that’s what I love about greeting cards, too.
They’re little pieces of thoughtfulness. A few words and a bit of art that travel from one person to another. Something chosen because it says what you wanted to say-or sometimes, what you couldn't quite find the words to say yourself.
A card can make someone laugh.
Make them feel remembered.
Make them cry.
Make an ordinary day feel a little less ordinary.
And a print can do something similar. It can bring a little beauty into a room, or remind us of a place, a feeling, a season, a person.
So Pariseau Studio began to feel less like a name I was choosing and more like a little story I was discovering.
A place for art and fine textured paper.
For beautiful things and thoughtful words.
For the little extras.
And perhaps, always, for one more thought at the end:
P.S. I hope I hope you know you matter.
To everyone who voted, weighed in, encouraged me, and followed along while I worked my way through all of these names - thank you.
Even if there were only two of you in the Pariseau Studio camp…
You may have been onto something. ❤️
